About

Meet Dr. Crighton

My interest in psychology grew from a deep curiosity about how our experiences, relationships, and family histories shape who we are. I believe that understanding ourselves within the context of our past—including patterns and experiences that may span generations—can create opportunities for healing, growth, and lasting change. As a generational Caymanian, I value the importance of connection, community, and creating a space where people feel genuinely understood. I work with adolescents (ages 12+) and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, complex trauma, and longstanding patterns that may leave them feeling stuck. Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or hoping to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, therapy can be tailored to your unique needs and goals. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Miami. I then went on to earn an additional master's degree and doctorate in clinical psychology from The George Washington University. My training across community mental health, inpatient psychiatry, and intensive outpatient settings culminated in my predoctoral internship at The Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas. I am currently licensed to practice psychology in both the Cayman Islands (CPAM/PL/PSY-D/038) and the Commonwealth of Virginia (License# 0810009087). My approach to therapy is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. I believe that the relationship we build together is central to the therapeutic process and provides a unique opportunity for self-understanding, healing, and growth. At the same time, I recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor my approach to each individual's needs and may thoughtfully integrate interventions from a variety of evidence-based approaches when they can support the work we are doing together. Whether our work is brief and focused or more exploratory in nature, I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, understood, and empowered to create meaningful and lasting change.
